While we are curling down the steep curves of the Andes, the Cotacachi volcano shows us its different faces, the fotographer friends go crazy to catch the best shot in this roller coaster road and the vegetation changes from paramo to subtropics. Our trip to Intag from Cotacachi was breathtaking!. To obeserve the landscape out oft he window was like getting into the “Elve’s enchanted valley” in “The Lord of The Rings”. Ecuador is magical, within two hours of road travel you can find many different worlds beyond imagination.
Our final stop is Apuela, a town located in the northwest of the country. This community produces coffe for exportation. The local people weave by hand crafts as bags, purses and bells from a plant called cabuya. We are staying at a guesthouse close to the thermal pools “Nangulvi”, where for sure we are going to have a swim. In Intag the people treat us excellent, the food is really tasty and the European partners are amazed with all the tropical fruits we have at breakfast. There is no cellphone signal and it is hard to get internet reception, too. Although some of us try to keep in touch with the “real world” (the one from the news) the others prefer to keep concentrate at the project and keep working to prepare the rest of the trip in Ecuador and the tour to come in Colombia.
After setting up our equipment, the task is to plan and organize the workshop, which starts on wednesday and to review the activities, the materials and the methodology. We are eager to know what stories and participants will be in the workshops.
