Most of us people from the cities or already urbanized countries, while watching the map we usually do not think, how it is in the Amazon - and how big it is.
We learn in school that the Amazon is the lung of mother Earth, that there are many rivers... and that`s about it.
But it is much, much more.
Very shortly said: this is the place where nature rules and local people are listening to those rules. They have their own calendar and rituals and to live a balanced life here their calendar needs to be followed.
Piaroa people - from Sarrapia, the place we stay - know that nature lives.
Our guide Marco says: the forest is alive. Not just that there is life in the forest but the forest itself is a living creature. And sometimes it needs to rest as well. Then - in that time - everybody sleeps. Or don't move or don't do any noise, maybe for an hour, maybe for half an hour, but when a big leaf comes down from a big tree, this starts to do the little noise: ssssshhh, shhaahhh and when the leaf touches the ground it is like a "gong" for a wake-up. Then everyone starts their usual daily life.
We learn here about life, the place, the people, the forest and the river and.... more...
It's an amazing place.
